You Know George, You Might Want To Keep That A Secret...

Kos points out some amazing statements from Commander Bunnypants' presser today with Iraq Prime Minister Iyad Allawi. All of them are fairly jarring, but Georgie Boy really had his fastball clicking with this piece of oratorical wizardry:

I saw a poll that said the right track/wrong track in Iraq was better than here in America. It was pretty darn strong. I mean, the people see a better future.

Why am I almost convinced you won't be seeing that comment on any Bush/Cheney campaign literature anytime soon?

By the logic contained in this brilliant statement can we deduce that Americans feel they are worse off than a nation that is most likely mere months away from all-out civil war?

I've got a killer idea for Bush's new campaign slogan:

Bush/Cheney 2004: Because Utter Chaos Isn't Looking Half-Bad Right Now!

UPDATE: During this press conference, Bush also LIED about the number of trained Iraqi soldiers working in Iraq.

Bush said nearly 100,000 fully trained and equipped Iraqi soldiers, police officers and other security personnel are working and this would rise to 125,000 by the end of this year. The Pentagon said on Monday, however, that only about 53,000 of the 100,000 Iraqis on duty have undergone training.

It's good to know he's up-to-date on this stuff...

2ND UPDATE: The number of trained Iraqi personnel has shrunk again!!!

Allawi said yesterday in a White House press conference with Bush that there are 100,000 Iraqi forces ready to mount operations. Yet earlier in the day Allawi, speaking in a speech before a joint session of Congress, put the number at 50,000. A State Department briefing provided to members of Congress, meanwhile, put the number at 22,000, according to a Democratic congressional aide who received the briefing.
