Two Administration Top Dogs Speak The Truth...Then Try To Cover Their Asses...

First, Paul Bremer came out yesterday and said that trying to invade Iraq on the cheap led to major looting problems:

"We paid a big price for not stopping it because it established an atmosphere of lawlessness," Bremer said. "We never had enough troops on the ground."

Then, somebody let Donald Rumsfeld out of his box long enough to come clean about links between Iraq and al-Qaida:

"To my knowledge, I have not seen any strong, hard evidence that links the two."

It was good to see them speak the truth for once...until somebody decided the truth made George Bush look really bad.

First, Rumsfeld flip-flopped:

"A question I answered today at an appearance before the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) regarding ties between al Qaeda and Iraq regrettably was misunderstood.

"I have acknowledged since September 2002 that there were ties between al Qaeda and Iraq."

Then, somebody pulled Bremer's bullshit string and he tried to cover his ass by saying he thought his remarks were "off the record".

Does that make his comments any less damning to the Bush administration?

Hell, no...
