Bush Does The Right Thing...

Even if it is a symbolic gesture, Dubya did the right thing by bringing in his father and Bill Clinton to solicit donations for relief efforts in South Asia.

This instance can also serve as a shining example of how criticism and rattling some cages can get things done.

At first, all the Bush administration could muster was a paltry $35 million in aid, and Bush couldn't be bothered to comment for 2 whole days. Members of his team even got in shots at President Clinton, who had already stepped up and lent an American voice to the relief effort.

Then, the noise coming from those who felt the Bush administration hadn't done all it could became too loud to ignore.

Now, at least $350 million in aid is promised to the region, and 3 US presidents are on the job.

Say what you will about criticism of the handling of a disaster such as this...it worked.

Kudos to President Bush for getting it right, even if it wasn't immediately...
