Calvin & Hobbes Returning To Newpapers?
Not really, but it's something to look forward to...
My buddy PSoTD brought this piece of news to my attention:
"Calvin and Hobbes" will return to newspapers later this year, and its reclusive creator, Bill Watterson, will answer questions.
Before fans of the renowned comic and cartoonist get too excited, it should be quickly noted that it will be reruns of "Calvin and Hobbes" that newspapers can publish from Sept. 4 to Dec. 31. And Watterson will reply to queries in a controlled way via Andrews McMeel Publishing.
What a great comic strip...
It still burns me up every time I see a car hauling around with a decal of Calvin peeing on a Ford logo, kneeling in front of a cross, etc. Bill Watterson never authorized any merchandise from the series, but some bloodsucking leeches just can't resist.
For a more immediate fix, UComics is re-running the entire series. Currently, they are in the middle of one of the best, most poignant plot lines of the series: when Calvin's house is burglarized while he's on vacation...
