Phillies' Bobby Abreu Destroys Home Run Derby Record...By "destroys", I mean "beats the previous single-round record by 8 and the previous overall record by 14"...
The record performance is even more staggering when you consider two things that were working against Abreu:
1.) He's not really a home run hitter. His career high for HR's in a season is 31 back in 2001. Not exactly Bonds/Sosa material.
2.) Comerica Park is one of the largest ballparks in the league and not terribly conducive to the longball.
Good work, Bobby. Now, how about learning to play on the road when it actually matters?
