Cheers To The Folks At PopTheCap...

Thanks to their efforts, new beer styles containing up to 15% ABV will become legal in North Carolina in about 10 days.

The state Senate voted yesterday by a margin of 27-21 to give final approval to the "Pop The Cap" bill. The bill will become law in 10 days unless Gov. Mike Easley signs it before then. A veto is highly unlikely...

Thanks to PopTheCap, North Carolina is no longer saddled with the dubious distinction of being one of 6 states (sorry WV, AL, MS, AR, and SC!) to place a limit of 6% ABV on beers served.

Sean Wilson and Julie Bradford have done a great job in pressing for this piece of legislation, as have all the supporters of PopTheCap.

Drop them a line to thank them for their efforts.

P.S. The News & Observer has the full story...
