FINALLY!!! North Carolina Gets A Lottery...

The state Senate voted today 24-24 with Lt. Governor Beverly Perdue breaking the tie to allow a lottery in North Carolina.

As the last state on the entire East coast without a lottery, it's pretty clear that the people of this state wanted a lottery since Gov. Mike Easley ran almost solely on instituting an education lottery and was overwhelmingly re-elected last year.

With the lottery bill now through the state House and Senate, it now goes to Easley's desk to be signed into law.

All I can say is IT'S ABOUT FREAKING TIME!!!

P.S. If you're morally opposed to a lottery, I can respect that but please don't play it.

Thank you...

UPDATE: Along with the success of PopTheCap, that makes two defeats for the "holier-than-thou" crew in North Carolina. I'm smiling ear-to-ear right now...

2nd UPDATE: A choice quote from Rev. Mark Creech from the Christian Action League I linked above:
"Satan is the great destroyer. His aim is to destroy thousands of families as a result of problems stemming from compulsive gambling. May we continue to diligently pray God would show mercy to our State – that every effort for state-sponsored gambling would be brought to nothing."
Hilarious.

Rev. Creech was so much fun to watch while PopTheCap was being considered, I'm glad to see more of his Doomsday shenanigans on display...
