Sidney Lowe: Why I Like The Pick...I've got two big reasons:
1.) His NBA coaching experience. True, he wasn't a successful head coach (79-228???), but then again neither were Rick Pitino or John Calipari. The reality is that most college ballplayers want to take a crack at the NBA someday. What better recruiting tool is there than a coach who has an intimate knowledge of that game and how to get a spot on an NBA roster?
2.) At the very least, it always feels good to bring back a member of the program that was responsible for some truly wonderful memories. It's indefinable and probably not based in reality, but I really feel that counts for something in sports. Maurice Cheeks, notwithstanding.
