- Portis didn't help extricate himself from the mess when the NFL Network asked him about Goodell's strengthened player conduct policy. Instead, the running back put his foot in his mouth yet again. "You can't ask everybody to walk a straight line," Portis said. "People are going to want to do what they want to do. If they get in trouble, they've got to deal with the consequences."
