Of Every $1.00 You Paid in Federal Taxes:
- $0.27 goes to the military
- $0.19 goes to pay the interest on the debt
- $0.21 go es to health care
- $0.06 goes to income security
- $0.05 goes to education
- $0.03 goes to benefits for veterans
- $0.03 goes to nutrition spending
- $0.02 goes to housing
- $0.02 goes to environmental protection
- $0.00 goes to job training
- $0.12 goes to all other expenses
The first bullet above has been rising shockingly, but it pales in comparison to what the second bullet will do in coming years. The prosepects for the third are similar. We are slowly committing financial suicide. As many previous empires have done. "History doesn't repeat itself; at best it sometimes rhymes." It applies to budgets as well as foreign policy.
