Fake Ganstas
Thanks to Malvin Venable for this great short piece in my local paper.
- Faux thuggism is a widespread evil, and it needs to be stopped. .... Beyond being stupid, self-limiting and harmful to personal growth it's starting to become silly. I'm afraid to inform you that if you have done certain things like, oh, ride a Strawberry Shortcake bike, you are probably not a thug.....They are soulless, goal-less people who don't care about anything or anybody -- scum that doesn't deserve to mingle with the rest of us in society. I regret to inform you that if you've given your mom a Mother's Day card (and especially if you've written in it) you are not a thug. I remember in college being baffled by these dudes bopping into the library at like 9 a.m., so-called thuggin. Dude, how you are thugging in a library, in the morning, studying for a final?! What are you going to do, highlight passages with your neon green marker-slash-shank? Pop two in the professor if you don't get the extra credit questions right? I need it to stop.
