Compare the Cost of the Stimulus Bill to the Cost of Iraq

Our total spending on Iraq is closing in on one Trillion dollars. Imagine if we had not spent(borrowed) that money on Iraq, but left the splintered groups in that "country" alone like we do most others who are ruled by despots and had run up that much less debt over the last five years. Most folks in this poll who thought that would be a good idea for the futre were Democrats, not surprisingly.
It likely would not all have been saved as the Iraq war has caused a rash of tens or hundreds of Billions of dollars in "emergency" spending that does not get added to the deficit figures until long after being signed by the President. That said, I still the stimulus bill is a really dumb idea economically represents the helplessness of politicians to repeal the business cycle. Too many voters want to see politicians as quarterbacks of the economy, and that is not too smart. Their ability to effect the economy is far weaker than most assume. The economic Viagra this stimulus bill is supposed to represent is really just a placebo, likely to leave just a limp economy lumbering along with large bills to pay.
