The Looming NFL Labor Strife

Let's enjoy the next year or two of football, and then expect a work stoppage.

• To a seasoned listener of this league, it is a foregone conclusion that this November these owners will opt out of the current collective bargaining agreement, one they approved 30-2 just before former Commissioner Paul Tagliabue retired.

The 2011 season may or may not happen. If there is an uncapped season in 2010, expect the bad teams to have fire sales as the rich teams risk even more. I don't think either side wants this scenario, but it is hard to see how either can avoid it.
