Why has mass transit never taken off in this country?
Here we are, supposedly the most advanced society in the planet's history, yet every morning, people in our major cities (and most of our minor ones) sit in traffic for hours on end like morons.
Mark my words, if this country ever really falls apart, it will be due to traffic. We'll all simultaneously be unable to pull out of our driveways and everything will shut down.
Without a viable mass transit system, we're basically slaves to the oil production capacity of the Middle East.
Why???
