Great movies that ran out of steam before they were over?
There are a bunch of movies out there that started out with a bang, but for whatever reason, ended with a whimper.
"Stripes" is probably the ultimate example of this.
A great concept (two morons join the Army), amazing comedic actors (Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, John Candy, John Laroquette), and an atmosphere of early-80's stupidity should equal a classic.
Unfortunately, somewhere about 2/3rds of the way in, the flick pretty much dies.
What are some other examples of this sad phenomenon?
