PTSD Diagnoses Up 50%

• Records show roughly 40,000 troops have been diagnosed with the illness, also known as PTSD, since 2003. Officials believe that many more are likely keeping their illness a secret.

Yet, the Bush administration sought to slow the diagnosis rate for PTSD:

• "...staff should “refrain from giving a diagnosis of PTSD straight out” and they should “R/O [rule out] PTSD” and consider a diagnosis of “Adjustment Disorder”.

Nice. Cheat our vets out of tens of thousands of dollars in benefits they would otherwise have received if they had been diagnosed PTSD...
