Great insights from an ex-Phillie...

Since I've been too busy to come up with anything new for you, here's something a little different.

Some of you might remember Doug Glanville as one of the few bright spots for the Phillies when they were still struggling back in the late 90's and early 00's.

He was a lot of fun to watch because he always played hard and hustled, like any great ballplayer should. He retired in 2005 as a Phillie, a sign of respect for the franchise where he spent the bulk of his career.

Long story short, he's now married to an old friend of mine from high school and has been writing some great op-ed pieces for the New York Times.

His articles give some really unique personal insights into a sport whose negatives have unfortunately been overshadowing its positives in recent years.
