Best asshole actor in movie history?

Let me rephrase that: Which actor did/does the best job playing an asshole in movies?

I nominate William Atherton.



When you play the asshole EPA agent in "Ghostbusters" and follow it up by playing Dr. Jerry Hathaway in "Real Genius", that pretty much seals your fate as a great movie asshole, doesn't it?

That's like hitting 50 home runs one season and and hitting 75 home runs the next year.
