A telling soundbite from a politician who really doesn't mean much...

Comments from the Lt. Governor of a state like South Carolina really shouldn't mean much, especially when you consider the kind of assholes that that state tends to elect to its statewide offices.

But I find this comment in particular about students receiving free and reduced school lunches to be a pretty clear window into how many Republicans view people less fortunate than themselves.

"My grandmother was not a highly educated woman, but she told me as a small child to quit feeding stray animals. You know why? Because they breed. You're facilitating the problem if you give an animal or a person ample food supply. They will reproduce, especially ones that don't think too much further than that. And so what you've got to do is you've got to curtail that type of behavior. They don't know any better."

--South Carolina Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer (R)
Republican obstruction of meaningful healthcare reform demonstrates this attitude pretty well, too...
